Playful paws began as an idea in July 2024 with a view to bringing regular animal therapy sessions to the children and adults with neurological movement disorders at Conductive Education Bristol CIC , their SEN schools and other SEN groups, schools and placements in the local community.
Natalie and Annalisa both have over 2 years of experience working in animal therapy provisions with a range of large and small animals and children, teenagers and adults with a range of difficulties and disabilities including Autism, GDD, Neurological movement disorders (such as Cerebral Palsy), anxiety and mental health disorders.
Natalie has 16 years of qualified experience (Qualified Conductive Education practitioner, BA(Hons) QCS); working within a SEN school in County Durham developing full time CE services and then starting up Conductive Education Bristol. She has experience working with children and teenagers with a range of neurological movement disorders including Cerebral Palsy, schizencephaly, PDH, developmental delay, Dyspraxia and acquired brain damage. Over the last 8 years she has worked with children pre and post SDR surgery. In addition she has experience working with children with Autism, PMLD, metabolic disorders, visual and hearing difficulties, and epilepsy.
Annalisa has 22 years of qualified childcare experience (NNEB Diploma in childcare and education) working across nurseries, schools, as a nanny and as a childminder assistant. She has worked with children from newborns up to teenagers and adults with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders including but not limited to Autism, Tourette’s, mental health disorders and anxiety. She also has experience working with children with cerebral palsy and epilepsy.
All staff hold up to date Paediatric First aid, manual handling, child protection training and hold enhanced DBS checks.
Natalie is currently completing her level 3 Animal assisted therapy qualification.
